Hello Kossacks,
I'm pleased to announce the second annual CREDO Mobile/Netroots Nation Blogger awards! This coming weekend we'll be awarding a HTC Hero™ smartphone, plus a year's unlimited voice/text/data service on CREDO Mobile, to three hardworking progressive bloggers. And you get a say in who will win. Read on for the details.
Just like last year, the winners will be determined by votes cast by text message, in three categories:
- Best national blogger
- Best state or local blogger
- Best activist blogger
To vote, just text the keyword ("national," "state" or "activist") plus your favorite blogger's name or "handle" to short code 27336. (Standard text messaging charges will apply unless you're a CREDO Mobile customer; in which case text messages to 27336 are free). Examples:
- National ravenbrooks
-
State Nolan Treadway
-
Activist mary rickles
There's a limit of one vote per category per voter; you're welcome to vote in all three categories if you wish. Please note:
-
Vote for your favorite blogger (a person) — not your favorite blog (a site).
-
If your favorite blogger usually posts under a handle or alias, please use that in your text message, not his or her real name.
-
Please vote in only one category per text message sent; to vote in all three categories, you'll need to text in three messages.
Voting closes at 12 noon Las Vegas time on Saturday the 24th; we'll be announcing the winners from the Netroots Nation stage that evening. (Please click here for the full contest rules.)
David Dayen, aka dday, was one of last year's winners and here's what he had to say about how the phone has helped him:
"As someone whose smart phone has basically become an extended attachment of their hand, I'm very grateful to CREDO for the contest. And for supporting my work, too: I've used the Blackberry Curve to ask questions of the powerful on conference calls, live-tweet breaking news events, catch up with email contacts to advance stories and generally do everything else I do throughout the day."
Let the voting begin, and feel free to campaign (for yourself or someone else) in the comments below!
