The Rodney Glassman for Arizona U.S. Senate campaign received some great news today! The Democratic candidate and primary front-runner has been endorsed by the Arizona Education Association, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and the Service Employees International Union.
"I would like to thank the members of these great organizations for their support and welcome them enthusiastically to our team." Rodney Glassman
The feeling of "virtual" disappointment in the wake of failed Senate climate efforts was evident in many DKos diaries and comments yesterday. But I am certain that none of us intends to walk away from this most critical challenge anytime soon.
More than ever, our focus on electing progressive Democratic Senators who strongly support comprehensive climate change legislation must remain.
How do we ensure Rodney Glassman's success in the upcoming August 24th Democratic primary? (Yes, I was getting to the point of this diary).
First, you might be inclined to think that a progressive Democrat can't defeat the probable winner of the Arizona Republican primary, Senator Grampy McFlipFlopper. Think again, dear Kossacks.
Specific details about Rodney Glassman's more-than-abundant qualifications and examples of where he stands on progressive issues can be found here. Glassman holds degrees in business administration and law as well as a PhD in Arid Land Resource Sciences. Additionally, he has done extensive work with water conservation as Vice Mayor and city council member of Tucson, and he strongly supports Arizona becoming a leader in solar/renewable energy.
This is where you come in, Arizona Kossacks. Arizona's Democratic primary election is on August 24th. Vote-by-mail ballots go out on July 29th. The Arizona Democratic Party highly encourages early voting by mail. If you are not on the PEVL (Permanent Early Voting List), you can sign up here. I do NOT recommend doing this until after the primary election, as processing your request must occur within a few weeks. I would not count on this happening. I have many PEVL forms and will be happy to mail some to you (hope you will pass them on to family/friends) so that you can sign up for PEVL before the general election. Just email me.
Finally, it's not too late to register to vote and/or update your voter registration information. This is easy to do online. Both must be done by this Monday, July 26th, to vote in the August 24th primary election. Voter registration and driver's license address must match. The voter registration link also gives polling place information.
