The latest poll on the Democratic side of the race for Michigan governor shows that Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero has taken a 14% lead over MI House Speaker Andy Dillon.
LANSING, MI (WKAR) - Political analyst Bill Ballenger says a recent poll shows Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero has surged ahead in the democratic gubernatorial primary race.
Ballenger says, "I'm basically calling the election for Bernero right now."
Based on the poll, Bernero has a nearly 14 per cent lead over state house speaker Andy Dillon. More than 42 percent of the electorate was still undecided.
The poll was conducted by Practical Policy Consulting of East Lansing.

On his Facebook page, Virg Bernero places the numbers from the poll at 35.6% for Virg and 21.8% for Andy Dillon.

This is just one of several indications that Virg Bernero is taking command of the race. Bernero has been taking most of the best endorsements - despite Detroit Mayor Dave Bing's endorsement of Andy Dillon. And most of the larger unions in Michigan are backing Bernero.
Dillon must also contend with Republican Rick Snyder. Both are fighting for the centrist/moderate vote. Given Snyder's personal wealth and crossover appeal, Dillon will find it hard to take these voters.
Bernero is pro-choice. Andy Dillon is pro-life. Bernero has the endorsement of Michigan's largest lgbt group. Bernero supports public education. Andy Dillon has a history of cutting schools and teachers.
Bernero is in the lead. And he is the clear choice for Michigan.
