Lot of laymen who have followed the Af-Pak war have known for years what the leaked docs of wikileaks.org say. My diary of Oct. 2009 is the proof. Let us get out and save American lives and money.
The New York Times has published wikileaks.org expose on the Pakistan's support of our enemies in Afghanistan. NYT reports:
The documents, made available by an organization called WikiLeaks, suggest that Pakistan, an ostensible ally of the United States, allows representatives of its spy service to meet directly with the Taliban in secret strategy sessions to organize networks of militant groups that fight against American soldiers in Afghanistan, and even hatch plots to assassinate Afghan leaders.
May be this will help us get out of the mess and save American lives and money. But, this has been well known to the followers of the Af-Pak war. This is what I wrote in my Daily Kos diary in Oct. 2009. Since I am nobody, I assume everyone in Washington has known this but have chosen to ignore it for strange reasons.
It is clear, and it is about time we Americans, including Obama administration, admit that our real problem lies in Pakistan and not in Afghanistan.
Pakistan has been harboring Osama and other senior Al Qaeda terrorists for eight years, while taking billions from us. Finally Hillary said this in Pakistan on Thursday, according to NYT:
A day earlier she was more explicit in her skepticism, telling a Pakistani journalist in Lahore: ''I find it hard to believe that nobody in your government knows where they are and couldn't get them if they really wanted to. Maybe that's the case. Maybe they're not gettable. I don't know.''
Many have been saying Pakistan has ignored, tacitly supported, and/or encouraged terrorists working from their country. NYT reports:
Pakistani forces pushing toward a lair of hard-core Taliban fighters found documents this week linked to a member of the Hamburg cell of Al Qaeda that is believed to have planned the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The hawks would make you believe if Taliban returned to power they would plot another 9-11 from Afghanistan. Well, they don't need it, their home is Pakistan.
As long as we refuse to recognize the realities of Af-Pak war, there is no hope for our security.
