Republicans always scream their mantra about democrats "they are going to raise your taxes" and "they love to spend". Let's analyze the republican mantra and I really wish people would actually finally see repubs and their arguments for precisely what they are - words without teeth.
As far as the Bush tax cuts go, the repubs are saying that the democrats will be responsible for the largest tax increase in history. This is a flat out lie. First and foremost, it's not a tax increase when they expire at the end of the year. It's the law - its automatic without any action required, which gets me to my next point. In fact, the republicans themselves are responsible for the law and the expiration of the tax cuts, because they wrote the law. So, using the republican argument that taxes will be increased, the responsible party is actually the republicnas since they wrote the law. So, in effect, the republicans will be responsible for the largest tax increase in history (which in and of itself is not extactly true).
As far as spending goes, the repubs love to talk about the deficit and cutting spending, when we all know - at least I hope we do - that the republicans really know how to spend- - trillions- - and not pay for it, thus increasing the deficit to unmanageable numbers. The difference is that Republicans don't mind spending so long as the money is spent on things they care about. Conversely, democrats (the good ones anyway) want to spend money on things that help out regular people - people that actually need help. Republicans dont care about those people. Republicans enjoy helping those who dont need help - big coal, big oil, NRA, rich people, and the list goes on (you all know what Im talking about).
The only thing the republcians are really really good at is framing the issues and using talking points to make the democrats look and sound bad. Anthony Weiner did a great job last night and today - but we need more of that. Enough is enough. We really need to do a better job of getting the right, factually correct message out to people - time is running out.
