First off, I was warned not to write this and send it out to my list. Note the time, precisely as the clock strikes 12 noon and the Colorado Democratic Party stages a unity rally.
I am concerned about the eminent chaos this country is headed for. Mike L., another engineer, told me that we are bound to run out of water before we run out of gasoline and sooner than later. Either way, there will be plenty of blame on both sides of the aisle for not paying attention to the health, education, water, energy, sewage problems and rail transit of the country. BTW, who would have thought that a man as eloquent as Obama would have so little to say about real problems, what to do about them and would select a staff of toadies and the dregs of the Bush and Clinton eras.
The "Democrats" (party establishment) think they won last night (The 10th). They actually sealed their doom. Three cute little Bennet girls won the race for their dad, he didn't have to debate, he never had to articulate a plan, he is too inarticulate to express one and he may lose statewide election just from the backlash of Democrats that got burned with Mike Miles and Andrew Romanoff. Of course his handlers won't let him speak unless it is to say he approves of this message, whatever that is. Way too many lawyers in government and way too few engineers and philosophers. If Mike Miles or Andrew Romanoff don't represent the values I seek in Democrats, Mark Udall, Michael Bennet, Betsey Markey, John Salazar, Diana DeGette and Ed Perlmutter miss the mark by light years. I can assure you that I have lost all hope in government being the solution, as a matter of fact, within a couple of years the weight of the defense debt will cripple us and the world that depended on the stability of the dollar. Bernanke sounded the alarms of deflation, which is inevitable for a jobless recovery and it won't matter one iota to the fat cats with bank accounts in the Cayman Islands. As a matter of fact they will move in like vultures to buy up real estate with ill gotten gain for pennies on the dollar, further turning our country into the aristocracy that it has always been. I blame the unions as well as the corporate world for destroying meritocracy, the fuel that ignites a nations ability to make money the old fashioned way. Power to the tea party, they are the beginning of the end and the point where we hand over the keys to the inmates of the asylum.
Another thing, not sure who convinced Romanoff to hire the Biden, Iowa campaign losers, I have seen it in several statewide elections, starting with Kerry and Salazar. They burn way too much money paying these "professionals" for what they could easily get for free and in state. Another point, 155,000 people voted for Romanoff, if every one of those voters had given $100, the tally would have been over $15 MILLION! I told the campaign to dig deep into Bennet's history with Anschutz, they eventually did and too late and definitely not because of my heads up. I take no pleasure in what I am saying in this email. The truth hurts, you as well as me.
About the unity rally? I'll be a no show, unity with DINO's? Never, again. Morally speaking, we are talking good versus evil. The future of our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the almost 12 % of the Colorado population who live in poverty to include 15 % of all Colorado children who live in houses and apartments not fit for the rodents that infest them. Accept that? Never.
I have watched in dismay as Colorado builds more lanes on I-225 instead of completing the Fastracs (Rapid Rail) from Nine Mile Station to the Fitzsimmons campus. I'm still waiting for the promised new VA hospital, (has it been two years already?) the only dirt moved was the ceremonial farce including 8 or 9 CHROME PLATED SHOVELS. Notable absences? Bill Ritter, Mark Udall. Notable footwear? Mike Coffman's combat boots, typical statement for a right wing defense hawk that is proud of, along with Doug Lamborn, their affiliation with the tea party.
The difference between Democrats and Republicans? They are competing for the front of the line to milk the cash cow. Democrats and Republicans pay lip service to their constituents while they serve their real masters, the DNC, the RNC and the corporations who pay their tickets of admission to the big show.
Bitter? Ever since I walked into a county Democratic office and felt I was trespassing on a desert void of passion, direction or ways to employ those who recognized their need whether the party did or not. Fundraising dinners? I prefer the Dick Cheney fundraising method, hot dogs, potato chips and water with most of the money going to the party. Politics is civil war, plain and simple, with no justification for overpriced rubber chicken and dry speeches from, for God's sake, career politicians such as Evan Bayh who couldn't inspire his own mother. There is something in the water in Indiana, the state that spawned Bayh and Dan Quayle, perhaps because it is down river from Chicago.

My Dear Sir:
But you are proceeding upon the superstition that Moral Courage and a Hankering to Learn the Truth are ingredients in the human being's makeup. Your premises being wild and foolish, you naturally and properly get wild and foolish results. If you will now reform, and in future proceed upon the sane and unchallengeable hypothesis that those two ingredients are on vacation in our race, and have been from the start, you will be able to account for some things which seem to puzzle you now.
Sincerely yours,
S. L. CLEMENS.
