To those who feel betrayed or for those that rebuke me for my angst against Michael Bennet. Read on. I have stated many times and in many ways the absolute corruption of both the Dems and Republicans. For what reason should I make a deal with the devil, hold my nose or turn a blind eye to a system that has but two parties with marginal differences. By that I mean that Republicans speak to their base with a message of hate, intolerance and paranoia. On the other hand the Democrats speak to their base with a message that motivates liberals without much thought of carrying through.
For both parties the main goal is to GET ELECTED, cater to their cronies, promote a continuous state of war, paranoia about boogey man du jour and drive home the message that one party is incapable of keeping you safe.
The domestic crime issues are a great example, not saying that any amount of crime is not a bad thing, but the news media blows it all out of proportion and causes people to think it is a matter of time before they become the victim. And who owns the media? The same kind of people that have great similarities to Phillip Anschutz. How many of you have witnessed a murder, bank robbery, a bad car accident.
"Fear is the mind killer" (Dune)
Fear that if we don't stop the other party, we will find ourselves in internment/re-education camps, that our phones will be tapped, that we will not have the luxury of the Bill of Rights, etc.. Listen up, people, all those things and more have always been our lot. Even Nancy Pelosi in a moment of fear put her stamp of approval on violations of basic human rights and when the light was shined on her, she outright lied about it. Our schools don't teach real history and turn our children into flag waving American zealots who are convinced of the generosity and moral superiority of the nation. Don't you think the "Apology of Socrates" might be appropriate for high school rather than college? A two thousand year old story regarding truth speaking to power and paying a horrendous price is oft repeated throughout history (Jesus, Ghandi) and is warning enough regarding the real boogey men of this world.
"We need to challenge the system... And if we're not willing to take up that fight, then real change -- change that will make a lasting difference in the lives of ordinary Americans -- will keep getting blocked by the defenders of the status quo." Barrack Obama

On the Rage of Gibbs
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs has been slapped around silly by commentator after commentator, decrying his anti-Lefty rage. But as I read the battle, it seems to miss a pretty fundamental point:
It's certainly not fair to criticize Obama for not being a Lefty. He wasn't ever a Lefty. He didn't promise to be a Lefty. And there's no reason to expect that he would ever become a Lefty.
But Lefties (like me) who criticize Obama are not criticizing him for failing our Lefty test. Our criticism is that Obama is failing the Obama test: that he is not delivering the presidency that he promised.
