President Obama was correct in stating he would not comment on the wisdom of building the Mosque near ground zero but that the people had a right to build the Mosque. It is not surprising that Republicans, Tea Baggers and right wingers are criticizing his statements. I know many of them criticize the president because they are still upset he was elected, they think he is a secret Muslim and was born in a foreign country. I get that. What bothers me is now they want to eliminate the 1st and 14th Amendments. I think some of them would be just fine with only the 2nd and 10th Amendments. This from the same party that is claiming President Obama is not following the Constitution of the United States. Now here they are wanting to change it...sounds like sore losers to me. Liberals sure weren't talking about changing the Constitution when the majority conservative Supreme Court ruled no more counting ballots--George W. Bush is the president (even though the majority of people in the United States voted for Al Gore).
One would think Christians would be the first to come out and defend the building of the Mosque. Unfortunately, they are not. Most of the the so-called Christians leaders are speaking out against the building of the Mosque near Ground Zero. They claim that it is disrespectful and offensive to the victims of 9-11, their families and the American people because Muslims attacked the building.
I wonder how Christians would feel if someone told them they should not be allowed to build churches around any Native Americans or African-Americans? Remember, it was the Christians that committed genocide against the Native Americans and enslaved Africans in the name of their god. Or, what about not building any Catholic churches around children and prohibiting children from attending Catholic church since some priests practice and protect committing sexual abuse against children?
I know I would be offended if someone told me that I could not build a church on private property. Muslims were killed...victims of 9-11 when the terrorists attacked. Yes, whether the opponents want to believe it or not, there were people that were not Christian but practicing Muslims that were victims of that vicious attack by terrorists.
Opponents of the Mosque need to realize that there are Americans that are Muslim. Their claim that this Mosque is disrespectful and offensive to the American people is a statement of discrimination and intolerance. The opponents of the Mosque do not care that there are some Americans that support the view of religious freedom in America and the right to build a place of worship, even if they worship differently. I guess opponents of the Mosque forgot or don't care that this country was founded on religious freedom.
The truth is the people that attacked us on 9-11 were no more Muslim than a racist or child molester that claim they are Christian. Case closed!
