The Park51 controversy offends my American sense of fairness but not my Islamic faith.
The Earth is my "Masjid." I don’t need a building to worship my Lord, especially at a floor in a $100-million structure. The word "Masjid" means to me more than a Mosque. I and every practicing Muslim are allowed to perform our daily prayers at everyplace alone or in congregation. Permissible places of worship include: a small room, at office or at a park.
As a Muslim, I would not be offended if the Cordoba House-Park51- Burlington Coat Factory Islamic Center-Ground Zero Mosque-pick your name project is reconsidered. Actually, I would strongly advocate for ditching the two prayer-floors. Aren’t those two floors what have made the project so controversial?
Or is it the idea of Muslims being so close to the Hallowed Grounds of Ground Zero that is making people mad?
In that case, allow me to suggest that the United States Congress pass and the president sign a new law prohibiting the Port Authority to lease any space on the Hallowed Grounds to:
1- Any person of the Islamic faith regardless of his/her nationality
2- Any corporation that conducts part of its business with any Muslim nation
3- Any business that has Muslim investors
4- Any business that employs a person of the Islamic faith
5- Any entity that might invite a person of the Islamic faith to visit the Hallowed Grounds
6- No police, firefighter or EMT personnel of the Islamic faith should be allowed on the Hallowed Grounds
7- No visitor, tourist or diplomat of the Islamic faith should be allowed on the Hallowed Grounds
