Last night I was honored to have won the Arizona Democratic primary for US Senate. Today the real work begins and I’m going to need your help.
First, I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to help me win the primary. I’d name names but there are, frankly, so many of you that on the off chance that I forget someone, consider this a blanket thank you. It was a long journey but the real work is just beginning.
I don’t have to tell you why it’s so important that we beat McCain in November and I really believe we can do it, together. For 28 years Arizona has had a senator that put the needs of Arizonans a distant second to the needs of corporations and John McCain’s own ambitions. It’s time for Arizona to have a Senator who actually listens to the people and remembers who he works for and that Senator will be me.
I will continue to travel around the state talking with my fellow Arizonans about issues like job creation, health care, and reducing our dependence on foreign oil. Last week a new coalition of candidates was formed called EnergizeUS and I’m proud to be associated with this group of candidates all over the country as we talk about how we can put Americans back to work in good paying jobs while working to reduce our need for foreign oil by focusing on renewable energy sources. Here in Arizona, while on the Tucson City Council I introduced and worked with a coalition of businesses, unions and citizens to pass the first-of-its-kind rainwater harvesting ordinance, which now requires new commercial development to harvest and re-use rainwater.
I can beat John McCain in November but I will need your help. Please donate to my campaign on ActBlue so that we can do things like buy television and radio ads to get the word out. Follow me and my staff, join our Facebook family. Visit our website at www.rodneyglassman.com. In fact, we have a new feature on our website "The Daily McCain Flip Flop" where we will be pointing how inconsistent McCain has been and continues to be on a wide variety of issues. Write blogs about my campaign and the issues that matter most to Arizonans. If you live in Arizona, volunteer to work on the campaign doing things like lit drops and phone banking.
Together we can beat John McCain. I will be back to talk about the issues more often in the days ahead and I am planning to be here to do a live blog soon. Thank you for your support thus far and I look forward to working with you toward victory on Nov. 2.
