Brilliant Nobel Prize winner Robert B. Laughlin
What the Earth Knows
Understanding the concept of geologic time and some basic science can give a new perspective on climate change and the energy future
http://www.theamericanscholar.org/...
"The earth didn’t replace the dinosaurs after they died, notwithstanding the improved weather conditions and 20,000 ages of Moses to make repairs. It just moved on and became something different than it had been before."
So don't worry. Be happy. The Earth will survive. Laughlin seems to think that one need only sell the shorefront property one owns, and move to 'handle the changes'. Hey, if you won the Nobel Prize, you probably could afford to move, too.
Meanwhile, all that talk about "Save the Planet"?
The planet is fine.
It's humans that will be going away.
The Earth will shake us off like a bad case of fleas.
Another lost opportunity by our politicians at tackling our climate issues.
That article and Carlin's response is how I feel about where we are, right about now ..
Oh yeah .. the obligatory daily picture of the Arctic? Here.

Note that the earliest opening of the NW passage was August 21st, 2007. Looks like we've got a shot at beating that, from the daily picture.
And the daily report of sea temperature anomalies .. here

Bonus chart.

It appears that 15% Arctic Ice threshold level which had been tending away from the 2007 record has reversed course. Levels are now again approaching record low levels.
