It isn't going to be a long diary, but I would like this to get more attention than a comment would. I was just told that school supplies are on big sales right now in the States. There are going to be a lot of kids this year who have one or both parents unemployed and those parents are going to have a hard time coming up with the extra money to buy all the school supplies that a teacher would like the kids to have ready.
I remember when my grandchildren were starting each school year and the teacher would pass out lists of supplies to the parents. Perhaps you might think of picking up one of the lists and buying some or all of the supplies one or more children will need and donating them to the teachers. Or, if you are buying for your own child, perhaps picking up doubles of each item to donate.
It's also a great idea to maybe buy an inexpensive back-pack, or donate the cost of a school uniform. In Seattle we had a special school for homeless children, and if there is one in your town, I know those kids can truly use school supplies and back-packs.
Now is the time to help a child please.
