WYFP (What's Your F@(&!^& Problem) is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and share advice, pootie pictures, favorite adult beverages, and anything else we think might help. Everyone, and all sorts of troubles, are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
Remember in The Lion King when Scar says 'I'm surrounded by idiots" in that scathing, velvet-iron(s) voice? He was talking about hyenas... and I'm not so sure that's not the same thing I'm talking about. Metaphorically, anyway.
Follow me below the fold....
We have less than two months before the mid-term elections. Many of us have written diaries about this and one theme I keep seeing can be paraphrased thus: DON'T BE STUPID! The diarists here are saying it to certain of the Left who are balking at voting but I'm not going to go there. Not in this diary, anyway.
But that same admonition - DON'T BE STUPID - is one I would like to broadcast to the entire country. I want to climb the Statue of Liberty, the Washington Memorial, the St. Louis Arch, the Space Needle.... and shout it at the top of my lungs - DON'T BE STUPID!!!! Because, fellow Kossacks, I fear that this country is being overwhelmed by teh stoopid.
That's a perfect metaphor (or maybe it's not a metaphor at all) for what we are seeing in this country right now. People who do not think about the consequences of their actions are being very loud at the moment. And they have managed to convince the great unwashed masses that they actually know what they are doing. Caribou Barbie, Beckerhead, Limpblah and Newtie are among the "leaders" of this rampant stupidity. They are proud of being ignorant and "refudiate" the intelligent as elitists. Nevermind that the Founding Fathers were all very learned men. Heck, Jefferson was smarter than a dozen Teabaggers. Maybe a hundred. And Franklin....? Well, he would no doubt feel the wrath of the ignoramuses who yell and stomp and hurl insults at those who bother to be informed about things.
Now, if these people were stupid in a vacuum it wouldn't be such a big problem. Eventually, Darwin would win and they'd all be skimmed from the gene pool. But they are most decidedly NOT in a vacuum. So their stupidity puts us all at risk. Take the idiot who thought it a good idea to burn copies of the Quran. General Petraeus, Defense Secretary Gates and others said that this act would endanger our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. That it could endanger us here at home is something even the biggest moran should be able to figure out. But this guy... there is no word for the stupidity and arrogance he displayed. Teh stoopid in this case could have cost lives. And might still, if he decides to go ahead with his hurtful and stupid plan.
The Urban Dictionary defines Dumbfuckistan thus:
Otherwise known as Shitsforbrainsylvania, is an area of the U.S.A. which showed its vast intelligence in the 2004 election. Hence the name.
An interesting point I have discovered is that the so-called Red states occupy the bottom half of the listing of states by IQ. Seventeen of the top 20 are Blue states. I don't think this is a coincidence (yes, many Kossacks live in red states but to raise the average, they'd all have to have 300+ IQs). Just look at the Texas text book goatf@#k. These people actually WANT their kids to be stupid, ill-informed and intellectually lazy.
One cry we have heard coming from Dumbfuckistan is "socialism!" But ask these twits what that word means and, if they don't parrot what Beckhead has told them, they will have one reply; "Gubmint take-over." Try to get specifics and you get blank looks - though a few may point to the auto industry or healthcare. Nevermind that neither of these are actually a "take-over" or even close. As Ellis Weiner wrote: "Obama is a socialist" is not an analysis, it's a playground taunt. Ask them what Communism is and then watch their brains freeze up. They don't know what it is any more than they know what socialism is. It's just a word that the puppet masters have drilled into their collective brain. Political history - hell, ANY history - is beyond their grasp. Another favorite word is "tyranny." Really? They have no concept of what tyranny is. I have a friend who lived in the former Yugoslavia under Milosovic. HE knows what tyranny is, Mr. Tricorn Hat. HE lived through tyranny, Ms. Cheap Betsy Ross Costume. Tyranny? Puh-leeeeze.
I can understand that they are angry, frustrated, anxious. But they have chosen a very poor way to show it. Instead of hearing them, they make reasonable people want to avoid them. Or laugh at them. They say they "want our country back." Deal with that for a moment. Which country? The one that Bush nearly destroyed? Eisenhower's 1950s? The America of the 19th century? The thing is, they don't really KNOW. All they know is that someone who they perceive as "not one of us" is the President. Their lack of intellectual curiosity prevents them from learning about people who aren't like them. So naturally "those people" make them uncomfortable, whether it's by virtue of their race, their religion or their lifestyle. If the stoopid people would bother to learn - about politics, about economics, about other countries and peoples - perhaps they wouldn't be quite so angry, frustrated and anxious.
And why are the Right-Wing-Nut-Jobs so stupid? Because intellectual pursuits are "elitist." Ignorance is laudable in their world. Reading and analytical thinking are anathema to them. Their IQs don't have to fall into the lower percentile. They don't have to be ignorant but they choose to be. As someone who actively pursues knowledge, this is an enigma to me. I cannot fathom living my life in a fog, of being told what to think, being told how I should feel. I would sooner die. I'm sure you feel the same.
All of this needs to be pointed out. Constantly. Never be afraid to speak up. In the face of this unreason and stupidity, to be silent is to let them triumph by default. So we must stand against Dumbfuckistan. Fight teh stoopid!
Even when we feel like this:
Okay now, what's your FP?
