It would be easy to write off these candidates as unelectable, Sharon Angle, Joe Miller in Alaska for Senator,
"This is about changing the system," Christine O'Donnell, the tea party pick, said Tuesday night as she celebrated her stunning primary victory over Rep. Michael N. Castle.
Her upset was the biggest in a string of tea party wins this season over establishment-backed candidates in Alaska, Colorado, Kentucky, New York and Utah
from O'Donnell's big win in Delaware sends message to GOP establishment this is from a woman who had the chair of the Delaware Republican Party declare
“I’ve met her. I wasn’t frankly impressed by her abilities as a candidate,” Rove said during an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “One thing that O’Donnell is now going to have to answer in the general election that she didn't in the primary is her own checkered background.”
“There were a lot of nutty things she has been saying that don't add up,” Rove added. “Why did she mislead voters about her college education? How come it took nearly two decades to pay her college bills so she could get her college degree? How did she make a living?”
Hannity attempted to defend O’Donnell, saying the allegations “seemed to be trumped up charges from my standpoint that the republican establishment was against her.”“Sounds like you don't support her,” Hannity said.
“I’m for the Republican,” Rove said. “But we were looking at eight to nine seats in the Senate. We are now looking at seven to eight in my opinion.”
From Politico on Sep 15........
Now this is from Bush's own brain "Turdblossom his self if he doesn't think much of her why should Republicans and independents? He thinks her take down of Mike castle has cost Delaware and more importantly the Republicans one more seat in the Senate.
Why should democrats and independents turn out to vote for Chris Coons even Rasmussen shows a large lead for Coons over O'Donnell
Coons held a similar 46% to 36% lead over O’Donnell after the candidates were virtually tied in July.
democrats and independents must still show up on Nov 2 to ensure this woman who the Republican Party leader of Delaware stated "could not be elected dog catcher" well despite her lies about winning 2 of the 3 counties in 2008 versus VP Joe Biden, her bad financial handling and letting campaign donations pay her rent and he utility bills while running for office and paying off old campaign debts from earlier political contests, this woman who has been endorsed by Senator Jim Demint and Sarah Palin is a potential vote against hard working Americans.
Will she vote to make Demint the new Senate Leader against Mitch McConnell, Demint is donating large amounts of money to the "Tea Party" candidates and his name for support, why? What does he want in return? Power, he is the poorest of all sitting Senators but he is building a major list of IOUs from candidates he is endorsing and many of them are the same people Sarah Palin is endorsing, then against the establishment why, is there a possible Palin/Demint ticket coming in 2012, or 2016? Is the Tea party the vehicle they are going to use to take over the Republican Party, since they are purging it of moderates.
They are taking out sitting senators, Murkowski in Alaska, Bennett in Utah, among others.
Conservatives I spoke to seem happy when DeMint takes on the establishment, but concerned about the unintended consequences of an outsider inadvertently hurting local conservative candidates. Others believed DeMint was using his PAC to seek personal revenge on political enemies like Hostettler and McConnell. They also fear his staff may be using heavy-handed tactics and the grandeur of a senator to "muscle" the candidates (and their local advisers and campaign staffs) that DeMint endorses.
Ultimately, DeMint will be judged by what happens in November. As Riehl notes, "If in the end, the effort somehow benefits Erick's and DeMint's reputations as self-professed grassroots leaders, without measurably improving the strength of the genuine conservative movement in D.C., then members of the grassroots would have a right to ask who really won from the strategy that was adopted, as well as what opportunities may have been damaged, if not lost, as a result."
From his reference to health care reform being Obama's "Waterloo" to his bandying about the label "socialism" in his book, DeMint, of course, is no stranger to controversy. Now, this controversial figure may soon be coming to knock off a Republican candidate near you.
from Jim DeMint: Conservative 'Kingmaker' or Inside-the-Beltway Interloper?
The "Tea Bag" extreme candidates are people being pushed by Senator Jim Demint against the wishes of Senate Leader Mitch McConnell and other Republican leaders, again why? What is the motive? Jim Demint is as an extreme right wing Republican as they come, he makes Ronald Reagan seem liberal, and if Jim Demint was having to make a choice to either endorse or donate to Governor Reagan in his bid for President, I fear Saint Ronnie would be found wanting by Demint and the new "Tea party" and their purity tests.
It is more important for Democrats, liberals and independents to turn out and vote on November 2, 2010 for the choice is gridlock, the possible repeal of Healthcare for all, the attempt to dismantle unemployment insurance, the privitization of Social Security, the end of the Department of Education, the closure of the EPA, the end of food stamps and assitance to the nations poor, people like Sharon Angle, Rand Paul, Joe Miller have advocated these positions, they have stated there will be no compromise unless the other Senators decide to see policy changes to the Tea party view, if not there will be grid lock and filibusters, compromise is NOT an option.
The years of the late 90s while President Clinton under investigation will
seem like amatuer hour, Congressman Issa has announced his intention to investigate the Obama White House with unabashed fever, there will be no stones left unturn. The federal government will be shut down, government programs will be unfunded, and downsized to the point the public will be at risk.
This will be at the same time they are demanding the full extension of the now ending Republican tax cuts enacted in 2001 and 2003, most people call them the "Bush Tax cuts" this is a misnomer these tax cuts were devised by the leaders of the party back then Tom Delay, Trent Lott because the Senate rules required any law that extended more than a decade had to be paid for, and the republicans and President Bush could NOT explain to the American Public how giving 700 billion every decade to millionaires and billionaires for ever was a good idea, while they were turning once large budget surpluses into hundreds of billions in deficit spending and costing out children and grandchildren huge amounts of interest to cover these give aways to people who do not need them or didn't even ask for them.
I am not as afraid of the 2010 election results as I am Jim Demints game plan and Sarah Palins plan and all of the IOUs they are collecting for their future plans with these wing nut candidates the TEA party is nominating and getting advanced as republican candidates for legitimate office, what damage will be done to all 50 states if even some of these outrageuous people like Sharon Angle who lives off her husbands govt retirement wants to stop future social security checks for future Americans, just as Joe Miller advocates his parents survive on Social Security but he wants to stop it for the rest of us, why?
Why is it okay for them and their relatives to be grand fathered in, but their choice is to deny it to other Americans coming of age and will need these benefits to stay afloat in the safety net President FDR and the Congress and Senate of the 1930s and 1940 and President Johnson and the Congress and senate of 1964 and 65 did when they created Medicare.
It too decades and many generations to create a safety net for our elderly and disabled and in one election cycle the Tea party and people like Dick Army, the Koch Brothers and Glenn Beck had done extensive damage to the idea of protecting this nations disabled and elderly, why? Why do they hate the least protected amongst us?
Yes, I am one of the least amongst us, I am a disabled veteran who served in 2 wars, during the Vietnam era, on the DMZ in Korea and in Oman serving the First Gulf War, my son now serves in the Army. I am confident he will soon see the wonderful country of Afghanistan in South West Asia, like hundreds of thousands of other Americans and other soldiers of NATO Countries. What have the deniers done for the nation during the war on "terror" they advocate? Other that rah rah speeches very little, I have no use for people like this.
I do live in South Carolina and I will not be voting for Jim Demint, I will be voting for Rob Miller in SC 02. I have heard rumors of a write in candidate for Senator of SC I will write his or her name in, Demint is trouble and is not an honorable man, while claiming to be a Republican he has done everything he can to destroy the republican party, while smiling and lying to their faces, why?
VOTE for Democrats, urge your friends to vote for Democrats, make phone calls for democrats there is more at stake in 2010 on November 2, 2010 and November 6, 2012, than there ever was in 2008 help President Obama and stop Jim Demint, John Boner and the whacked out Tea Party candidates that can't pay their bills and use govt funds to support their elderly parents but no want to deprive us of our benefits, stop them now while we can. we must turn out the vote on those 2 says Nov 2, 2010 and Nov 6, 2012 do to for you, your kids, the kids unborn and all Americams especially disabled veterans like myself they deserve to have the PROMISE kept. Do your part please I need you my family needs you.....thank you
