In 2008, I was laid off from my job as an insurance agent and I was 25 pounds overweight. I was able to see that the state and the country was heading to another recession, but this time it would be serious. I did not know what to do, and I whined about being fat and broke.
Then I realize that I could spend my time whining or spend an equal amount of time working for Obama primary in Oregon, exercising and using my (tiny) savings to reinvent myself.
I chose to work for now President Obama and Jeff Merkley- and along with my fellow Oregonians, we won.
It's time to stop whining.
Many of you have seen the hucksterism, selfishness, greed and completely irrational hatred and spitting jealousy that the right has drummed up. You have also seen the media embrace of people like a radio disc jockey and a half term serving Governor.
But despite all this, the Democratic controlled congress passed legislation that save this country from going into the gutter.
The thing is that we on this blog and out in the wider media have not acted like winners. We, as Democrats and people on the left, act like we are still in 2001 with a lost election, we still act as if this was 2004 when John Kerry lost with a handful of votes.
We won 2008, and accomplished so much as Democrats.
Stop the whining and blaming- that's how we are 10 points behind. Would you vote for a whining loser?
Act like the winners that we are. We have the true moral ground of acceptance, equality and giving every man, woman and child a fair shake and a helping hand. We have a President who has acted with true gravitas and who has worked entirely on the behalf of his fellow citizens.
Be a winner. Act like a winner. Get Out The Vote when you have time and get to know your local candidates.
