Before the elections, there are still fights we can win during this session of Congress. The DREAM Act is one of those fights.
The DREAM Act gives undocumented persons who were brought to America as children a path to citizenship if they complete two years of college or military service. This week, the Senate will likely vote on it as an amendment to the Department of Defense authorization bill.
It is a winnable fight. Six Republican Senators are either co-sponsors of the DREAM Act or have voted for it in the past (Bennett, Brownback, Collins, Hatch, Lugar and Snowe). Join with Daily Kos and SEIU to call your Senators, asking them to support passage of the DREAM Act amendment:
Call your Senators now.
We have to engage this fight. Conservatives usually outnumber progressives 20-1 in calls to the Senate, and that is one of the reasons our agenda often stalls. Don’t let that happen here.
All Senators, no matter whether they are supporters, opponents, or swing votes, need to hear from constituents who support the DREAM Act. We will provide you with contact information and talking points. All you have to do is call.
Make a call. Please, do it now.
