Meeting Markos
I was at the ‘Drinking liberally” meeting tonight, with the featured speaker being Markos.
I usually don`t go out much, but I figured this was an opportunity to meet fellow Kossacks liberal/progressives, or just people who might simply wander in to a bar on the west side of LA.
I`d only found out about this meet-up last night, & decided to undertake this little trip out of my usual boundaries of time & space, especially since it was a short distance from our home.
Situated on Lincoln Blvd, a few blocks from the ocean , it seemed like a perfect little corner bar to meet.
Upon arrival, a little early, since we`d accounted for non-existent traffic, the place was like a lively mortuary.
But immediately I started hearing cross-talk that made me feel comfortable.
It was about the disappearance of the gulf oil. I mentioned that to that person & found out that he was d day from DK.
I introduced myself , along with my lovely wife Teri, & we were welcome as we`re accustomed to being.
Then my wife says,”there he is, Markos”.
I look over & say “Markos,”
He walks over & says questioningly, “Karl Marx?”
I say “not quite” & proceed to intoduce myself as not one of the knuckleheads (you know who you are) on his site, but of the username Knucklhead on his site.
I went through my history on his site giving kudos to Meteor Blades in the process, for his help on getting me re-established on the site.
Before leaving, possibly prematurely, I did want to say goodbye, but had to wait for the proper time.
Listening to him in his discourse, with fellow attendees, he was mentioning that some would vote for Genghis Khan,…. when I interjected with, “or Karl Marx”, I shook hands, told him he was a funny guy & we left.
My observations of him were that he was one of the “guys”, a “person of the people”,
mingling with others just like him, in what I consider a street corner bar, one that you might all frequent anywhere in America.
