As the One Nation Working Together March on Washington nears, I hope it's organizers are fully focused on how that massive event can best help our Democratic candidates win this fall's elections. As this recent PPP poll finds "The group of folks who haven't made up their minds yet is 14% Democrats, 21% Republicans, and 65% independents."
Swaying those Independents our way is key to winning the many neck-and-neck races across the Country, and for speakers at the March to devote 20 percent of their speech to messages tailored toward those voters makes a lot of sense. We all know that the other necessary component to our winning as many seats as possible this fall is a VERY, VERY STRONG GOTV operation. Those several hundred thousand marchers expected in DC for that march should be returning home full of fire and a powerful enthusiasm not just to vote, but to also volunteer in Democratic campaigns. It clearly makes strong sense for those who are giving speeches at the march to reserve 20 percent of their talk to informing the gathered masses how important GOTV is to our winning in November, and how much their help is needed in this work.
Devoting 20 percent of all speeches to swaying Independents and 20 percent to GOTV leaves a full 60 percent for energizing our base and addressing the specific issues that the speakers are there to represent.
November's election is too important for us to just hope that the event organizers are smart enough to have their speakers devote ample time to swaying Independents and helping mobilize a historic GOTV drive. The more of us at Kos who contact them directly asking them to do this, the more likely it will be that it gets done.
So, here's the contact link for the march - http://www.onenationworkingtogether.... and here are some email addresses we can use to reach the event organizers -

Let's let them know the power they hold, and how they can be hugely instrumental in swaying Independents toward our Democratic candidates, and helping drive the most successful GOTV operation in elections history!
So, use the "Find" and "Send Document as Email" options at the top left of your tool bar, or copy and paste this message onto an email to Leah, Jotaka or Roz, or to to one of their senior field staff (we don't want to needlessly inundate their inboxes).
Or, If you're more persuasive over the phone, give them a quick call to urge them to seize hold of this powerful opportunity to help us win Novembers' election.
Lastly, if one of our Kos featured writers were to write a story urging those event organizers to fully maximize the impact of their event in the way suggested and perhaps in other ways, that would probably seal the deal on this. (I hope you guys happen to find this diary.)
