I hope that this isn't slammed for not really being a "diary", but I didn't really know where to post it. I've seen for years diaries for specific candidates, with links to "Act Blue" for either individual fundraising or general contributions to the Act Blue site, where these candidates will receive a portion of the funds.
There is a VERY progressive candidate running here in Georgia for the House, trying to beat the absolutely horrendous Paul Broun Jr. The candidate's name is Russell Edwards, and his base is here in the Athens area, He has already calculated that if he receives slightly over 100.000 votes, he'll win. He scared Broun in the first real month of donations, far outpacing him, but he needs to keep up the pace.
His website is RussellEdwardsforCongress.com and anyone who is inclined to donate there is certainly welcome, but I don't know how to link him up with the Act Blue website. Any ideas??
UPDATE: Sorry, I was informed, as you will read below, that Russell Edwards does, indeed, already have an Act Blue page. I'm keeping this diary up, though, in the hopes that it will generate some more interest in Russell. For any of you following Paul Broun, Jr, you know that he's one of the worst (or at least craziest) members of Congress. He's not as vocal as Bachmann or
Palin, but his ideas on things are nuts. My primary care physician once met him at a convention (Broun is a doctor) and mentioned, just to make conversation, that he had known Paul Broun, Sr. Junior turned away, proclaiming, "we don't think alike on anything". Needless to say, he didn't bother speaking to him again.
