Debate Scheduled For Today But Wilson Balked
COLUMBIA, SC - Today Marine Corps combat veteran and 2nd Congressional District candidate Rob Miller challenged Congressman Joe Wilson to debate in every county of the district.
The 2nd District covers Aiken, Allendale, Barnwell, Beaufort, Calhoun, Hampton, Jasper, Lexington, Orangeburg, and Richland Counties.
The 2nd District candidates were scheduled to tape a debate with ETV at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2010. Wilson balked, however, telling ETV that he would be in Washington, DC. The House has no votes until Wednesday. Later, Wilson announced he would, in fact, be in Columbia on the 20th, but he was unwilling to debate.
"It's time for Joe Wilson to own up to his record," said Miller. "I challenge Congressman Wilson to debate publicly in every county in the 2nd District, with full media coverage. Joe Wilson's been trying to hide from his record, but South Carolina deserves an opportunity to ask him why he outsourced thousands of our jobs, why he gave himself five pay raises, and why he continuously votes against our veterans."
