The republicans/tea party has said they have 10 points; I thought I’d list them, 2 at a time and give my thoughts and concerns. This is 3 & 4.
- Demand a Balanced Budget: Begin the Constitutional amendment process to require a balanced budget with a two-thirds majority needed for any tax hike.
It’s always a good idea to have a balance budget just like most of us probably do in our own lives at home. The two-thirds for a tax hike is bull, we can’t get that with the really outstanding bills in the senate, simple majority just like that this country was founded on.
Well the first thing that we’d have to do is get rid of all the republicans. They spend like drunken sailors, giving money away to the rich and to the corporations that support them. The Democrats have been the ones that actually balance the budget.
- Enact Fundamental Tax Reform: Adopt a simple and fair single-rate tax system by scrapping the internal revenue code and replacing it with one that is no longer than 4,543 words -- the length of the original Constitution.
I don’t know much about the whole tax code so I’m probably going to get plenty of comments on this but I’ll try anyway, I agree to this one.
Single tax rate of 25 percent for everyone, no exemptions and no deductions and no tax shelters. Everyone pays doesn’t matter if you earn $100 or $1,000,000 a week you pay 25 percent. There’s no writing off donations to charities and doesn’t matter if you have 1 or 21 kids there is no deduction. All money that you earn in or out side of the United States counts so if you have, off-shore accounts they get lumped into your earnings.
