Yes, I'm not going to mince words: it's an attack ad -- well-earned -- and if you like it, you can help keep it on the air by donating here. For those people who thought that Meg Whitman was well-scripted for being able to regurgitate lies from the past months of her attack ads, take heart: Jerry Brown was on message too, but his fresh ad came out today!
Are you ready?
And here's a transcript (any errors are mine):
Our state has a huge deficit. Meg Whitman's plan will make it billions worse by eliminating the capital gains tax for wealthy investors including herself.
Economists say her plan will "rip a hole in the budget" and is deeply flawed. Analysts for the L.A. Times say that her plan is a "pure handout" to the rich, creating a "huge risk" to schools and public safety.
Jerry Brown's against this unfair giveaway because it will take billions from our children when we can least afford it.
Get California working again -- for all of us.
SMASH! I would almost feel sorry for Meg Whitman if she weren't campaigning on breaking contracts with workers and scapegoating the poor. No, actually, it would take more than that, like her not being an unprincipled liar.
By the way, if you missed last night's liveblog, it had its moments. Not all portions of the transcript are guaranteed to be true, but they're truer than the average Whitman ad!
Update: Zounds! There's a new occams hatchet diary on the race out. Go there now for much fun!
