First:
Have any of you considered that Alan Simpson's verbal diarrhea may be just what the smart minds in the Administration want? Older voters know and remember Simpson. His recent demonstration of a total lack of political savvy makes the Cat Food Commission seem like just another Republican cock up. And remember, the recommendations of the Commission are not binding. The Republicans in the Senate saw to that. The idea of removing him from his office would not be very smart - particularly when there is so much mileage in the outrage his every statement brews.
Second:
Has anyone considered that the constant repetition of the negative poll projections for Democrats in the November election, by the main stream media, may be a very subtle play to energize Democratic voters? After all, what is more likely to get the electorate energized than the looming threat of Republican victories by default, if we can't bestir ourselves to get our rosey reds to the polls? Is this a conspiracy to prevent the crazies from taking over the asylum in the most subtle way possible?
Third:
Hand wringing by Wall Street on the "uncertainty" the Obama Administration portends is a deliberate plan to take down the Obama Presidency by with holding investments, lending and cash infusions into the larger economy until the President caves on taxes, regulations, and a return to the wide open, free wheeling days of yore. I don't know what we can do about that - except to call them on it as a political tactic to restore greed and unfettered gambling. But, we had better start doing so loudly, and often.
If these topics have been addressed I ask your indulgence. I have been less than attentive of late. Between the cancer diagnosis, the surgical procedures, and the chemo, I am not able to read, or participate, as frequently as days of old.
But I did want to share my observations - just in case we can mount an effective response.
