Heather Beaven, Navy Veteran and CEO of a statewide education nonprofit helping at-risk youth stay in school, announced two more major endorsements on the campaign trail. Yesterday, the Sierra Club endorsed Heather - highlighting one of the biggest differences between Heather and Mica, who is bankrolled by special interests including Big Oil. Today, the campaign is excited to announce General Wes Clark has also endorsed Heather, who reaffirmed her pledge to always put Country above Self; Service above Special Interests. Both of these major endorsements come at the same time Beaven for Congress has launched the first TV spot of the general election. This is the first TV spot to air against Mica in nearly a decade.
In addition to being a Sierra Club member, Heather is also a member of Operation Free – veterans and environmental groups united for Clean American Energy as a matter of Homeland Security. In Congress Heather will push to move America off our oil dependency and will take on the Big Oil lobby.
There is a clear choice this November and the campaign is very thankful that the Sierra Club has thrown their voice into our race. This important endorsement puts us one step closer to defeating Mica in November and helps highlight one of the biggest differences in issues impacting the district.
The year Heather was born, Wesley Clark took an oath to protect America and was sent to Vietnam. Twenty years later, while 540,000 troops were in the Gulf, Heather took that same oath. That is an unshakable bond and Heather is proud to stand with him as we continue to fight for those who fought for us. General Clark is a great American. He has led and cared for our troops in conflicts from Vietnam, Kuwait, Bosnia, Herzegovina and Kosovo.
General Wesley Clark knows that courageous leadership in this area is vital to our safety, our prosperity and our future. General Clark is declaring his belief that Heather Beaven is the right person to help bring the 7th District, Florida and our Country to a safer future. To be supported in this way by a man Heather admires so deeply is awe-inspiring.
Our opponent, 18-year Washington insider John Mica, takes money and endorsements from Special Interests. Heather continues to gain momentum and support from real American heroes, real American workers, and people just like you and me who want a better tomorrow.
But we need your help too - we don't have the millions of dollars of special interest money that John Mica has. We are a grassroots campaign fighting for the interests of working Americans and trying to solve our problems rather than play politics. Heather has raised more money on Act Blue than any other federal candidate in Florida other than Congressman Alan Grayson. Please help by making a contributiontoday to keep our momentum growing!
