This story seems to have fallen behind the MSM radar, and has only been reported on few if any news outlets.
I realize this isn't much of a diary, but based on world events as of late, I am very curious about this amazing, and unprecedented meeting that Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton called for recently.
Does anyone is find this event curious? Does anyone else have any other insider information, oh why this meeting was called?
WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is convening an unprecedented mass meeting of U.S. ambassadors.
The top envoys from nearly all of America's 260 embassies, consulates and other posts in more than 180 countries will be gathering at the State Department beginning on Monday. Officials say it's the first such global conference.
The gathering comes at a time of crisis in Egypt that could reshape dynamics in the Middle East, fallout from leaked diplomatic documents and congressional calls for sweeping cuts in foreign aid. Although the meeting has been called to discuss U.S. foreign policy priorities for 2011, officials say Clinton plans to meet personally with ambassadors from front-line states to hear about developments on the ground. Officials also expect that specific concerns about the WikiLeaks revelations will be raised.

I mean, just the number of envoys, consulates, and ambassadors, all being brought together from all over the world, is pretty damn staggering when you think of it. And, as the article states, this is fully unprecedented.
I am not exposing any bull shit conspiracy theories, I'm just very curious as to why this is going on at this point in time, and why the public hasn't been fully informed and briefed on such an amazing event.
Another statement was this one:
The ambassadors hold meetings with their regional bureaus Monday and Tuesday. Clinton is set to address the ambassadors Wednesday about "leading through civilian power," after a welcome from her chief of staff and counselor, Cheryl Mills. U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice will then forecast the year ahead at the United Nations, and Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Bill Burns will do the same for the year ahead in foreign policy.
The ambassadors will also hear from Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen on civilian-military operations in the 21st century, and USAID chief Raj Shah will speak on results-based development. New Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Budget Thomas Nides will discuss the budget for 2011 and beyond.
But on that point, one official questioned why "every ambassador in the world was required to come back to the States for a group of lectures when this could have been done virtually," noting that almost every ambassador flies business class, so costs could quickly add up. The diplomatic powwow wraps up Friday, when the ambassadors fly back to their missions.

(Not that I'm a big fan of politico).
I'm very curious if any of the rest of you have any additional information on this event.
Last time I checked, we were still allowed to be curious on Daily Kos, and even have some fun 'speculating,' without those kinds of practices being turned into just another pie fight.
BTW, I've given up on Pie Fights, as we launch into new and Brave Beta world, and I hope that you might consider doing the same.
My own concern about this amazing meeting that Secretary of State Clinton called, is that I've been following on the on-going currency wars, and of course the so called 'Austerity Measures' throughout the world, are back firing (to say the least). I also noted today that the the many of the Suez Canal workers are going on strike:
And here we go:
Suez Canal Company workers from the cities of Suez, Port Said, and Ismailia began an open-ended sit in today. Disruptions to shipping movements, as well as disasterous econmic losses, are expected if the strike continues. Over 6000 protesters have agreed that they will not go home today once their shift is over and will continue their in front of the company's headquarters until their demands are met. They are protesting against poor wages and deteriorating health and working conditions.

(In other words: Shit meet the Fan).
My own feeling about this unprecedented meeting called by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was a sort of 'Pep talk' to her team, to let them all know that 'things are going to get a weeeeee bit out of control for a while....so have bag packed in case you need to meeting.'
But hey, that's just me.
What do you think is going on, are you as curious as I am about this huge meeting that was called?
Thanks, just askin....
