You know what's it's like in this very red district in northern California-- lonely!
Now you have a group in which to commiserate, organize, and find your fellow Progressives. Stay in touch with the friends and contacts you made during the last Congressional campaign.
I worked closely with Jim Reed's Congressional campaign against Wally Herger, and while Herger prevailed yet again, we have new opportunities with upcoming redistricting to make a difference in our district in 2012.

Just what, you might be wondering, is a kossack? Is that some socialist terrorist appellation? No, it is simply an affectionate nickname for member of the Daily Kos, founded by Markos Moulitsas. The site is dedicated to electing more and better Democrats.
FIRST: If you have not already joined Daily Kos, where our mini-blog is located, simply click on this link to create your account. In the upper right hand corner of your screen you'll see a link to create an account (If you already have an account, just log in).
You can remain completely private here. You do not have to give any personal information and can create a private screen name. We have the ability to send messages to each other within the site, so you do not even have to share your email address.
SECOND: Now that you have an account, in the upper left hand corner of the page you'll see your user name and right after your name a link that reads (no new messages). Click on that link and send a message addressed to smileycreek telling me you have found us, and I will issue you an invitation to join the group. It's that easy! Next time you log in watch for a message there containing your invitation. Accept your invitation and you're in the loop!
THIRD: If you want to be an Editor and write for the group, just let me know. If you just want to follow along and receive news and updates there's nothing more you need to do.
In this group we'll be publishing news and information regarding anything political coming up for Butte County, including news about health, the environment, and upcoming elections. If it pertains to Butte County or the Second District it's welcomed. This is your home, and you can decide how to live here.
Spread the word, all help make Butte County kossacks of CA-02 the home base for northern California's Progressives.
Now, I realize that if you are new to this site it can seem overwhelming, but do not worry-- I will help you every step of the way. One of the hats I wear here is as co-author of the Welcome New Users series, meaning I'm good at explaining how things work to newcomers.
And remember at least one of our common goals: Retiring Wally Herger!
