The Fawkers declared war on Westboro Baptist Church last week, and the word on the street was that the threat was all an empty and feckless hoax.
Fred's response: "Bring it".
Today Anonymous brought it, and Phrelps got pwned.
David Pakman invited Westboro Spokesperson Shirley Phelps-Roper on his radio show for a live web chat, which actually started out cordially enough.
Pakman's interview with Phelps-Roper was under the auspices of clearing the air, and indeed, Pakman reassured Shirly Phelps-Roper multiple times that there was no war and no plans of an attack. Despite this goodwill Phelps-Roper began to persistently insult the group and its representative (Pakman). After Phelps-Roper tells the Anonymous interviewer he's going to Eternal Perdition, Anonymous says, "I have a surprise for you."
A quick redirection turned the audience's attention to the Westboro Baptist Church public site downloads.westborobaptistchurch.com where Anonymous had placed the following notice:
Like Bill O'Really, we can do it live. The fun begins at the 9:00 minute mark:
"God hates fags: assumption. Anonymous hates leeches: fact."
If Anonymous can hack Westboro's web server, they're likely just a slim centimeter away from pwning their production network. Can you just imagine what fun Westboro's email over the last several years might be? And whom one might find on their mailing list?
I'm getting more and more confidence about Anonymous' efficacy daily. These guys are for real.Updated by thenekkidtruth at Fri Feb 25, 2011, 08:01:06 PM
Update: As of 8pm EST, http://downloads.westborobaptistchurch.com/ was offline; it's a safe assumption that Anonymous' notice still appears on that page. This is NOT a difficult problem to fix. Anyone who knows what they're doing would be able to restore this page in a few short minutes.
