David Prosser
I know you haven't forgotten this:
As the deeply divided state Supreme Court wrestled over whether to force one member off criminal cases last year, Justice David Prosser exploded at Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson behind closed doors, calling her a "bitch" and threatening to "destroy" her. ...
"In a fit of temper, you were screaming at the chief; calling her a 'bitch,' threatening her with '...I will destroy you'; and describing the means of destruction as a war against her 'and it won't be a ground war,'" [Justice Ann Walsh] Bradley wrote in a Feb. 18, 2010, e-mail to Prosser and others.
Prosser, a Republican facing a competitive challenge from JoAnne Kloppenburg, admitted to the outburst - but then blamed the very woman he'd verbally assaulted, as well as the female judge who wrote the email quoted above, for his behavior:
"I probably overreacted, but I think it was entirely warranted.... They (Abrahamson and Justice Ann Walsh Bradley) are masters at deliberately goading people into perhaps incautious statements. This is bullying and abuse of very, very long standing."
Now, he's back at it once more, accusing the women he's treated abusively of being out to get him. In answering a question about civility on the court at a candidate forum earlier this week, Prosser declared:
Anyone who knows me and anyone who really understands the operations of the Court should know that I am not the source of the conflict on the Court. ...
The first thing I would say is that when I’m reelected a lot of the problems are going to change because there will be no longer an incentive to try to embarrass Dave Prosser and put certain members of the Court in a bad light. ...
So it’s a little disconcerting to me that today they [Abrahamson and Bradley] have ganged up and tried to recruit candidates to run against me and create a foul atmosphere inside the Court.
So the "bitches" have "ganged up" on poor David Prosser, huh? This is a man who, despite his age and his long tenure on the court, can't accept responsibility for his own actions and congenitally finds a way to blame others. In other words, a guy evidencing shaken manchild syndrome. Very, very sad.
