Politicians make many promises; reasonable people understand that not all promises will be kept. Follow me below the fold for a short list of Barack Obama's promises.
Health Care: "Any plan I sign must include ... a public option"
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/...
I don't think I need to remind anyone of how this turned out.
Guantanamo: As President, I will close Guantanamo, reject the Military Commissions Act and adhere to the Geneva Conventions. Our Constitution and our Uniform Code of Military Justice provide a framework for dealing with the terrorists.

As most of you are aware. Guantanamo remains open and there is no plan, nor a hint of a plan to close it. Military Tribunals are starting up again.
Iraq: "I will remove one or two brigades a month, and get all of our combat troops out of Iraq within 16 months. The only troops I will keep in Iraq will perform the limited missions of protecting our diplomats and carrying out targeted strikes on al Qaeda. And I will launch the diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives that are so badly needed. Let there be no doubt: I will end this war."

Sixteen American servicemen have been killed in Iraq since the beginning of 2011. (http://icasualties.org/...) Perhaps it may be some comfort to their families to know that they were not 'combat' troops.
Torture: "When I am president, America will reject torture without exception. America is the country that stood against that kind of behavior, and we will do so again."

Bradley Manning: top US legal scholars voice outrage at 'torture'
Taxes: Repeal the Bush tax cuts for those making more than $250,000 (couples) or $200,000 (single)
http://www.politifact.com/...
Again, I don't think I need to remind anyone what happened to this promise. It really would be more appropriate at this point to call them the Bush/Obama tax cuts.
Change: "We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."

What is there to say? On this one, I am rendered speechless.
