Expanding Progressive media online, this is where you and I come in.
We all love to blog, that is why we're here. DailyKos and other Progressive blogs are important. This is where we stay up-to-date on the issues with our values in mind but we are preaching to the choir. This strategy will expand our influence as a community, bringing more people into seeing the world through our values.
How many people read Daily Kos? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe its between 500,000 and a million people. A large, skilled and passionate community indeed. But when someone posts an article about food safety, how many swing voters are likely to read it? Next to none. We can have an even greater impact, individually and as a collective community.
When you post an article on Daily Kos about say, Social Security, the Daily Kos community will read it and you also have a chance of your article coming up when someone Googles "social security". But if you took that same article and re-wrote it ten times, posted one article here on dKos and the other nine (similar) articles on your own blogger.com blog, eZineArticles.com, Technorati.com, build and posted it on a Squidoo lens, created a HubPages.com hub with one of the articles and posted the rest of the articles on other high ranking article websites, when someone goes onto Google and searches "social security" one of your articles is much more likely to come up on the first page.
So now, as millions of people search or browse articles (lens or hubs) on various websites, they become more likely to stumble upon your article, reinforcing a Progressive worldview. These articles to not need to state they are from a Progressive point of view, in fact they should read to be more from a news point of view. We could also take a page out of the Conservative playbook and state our Progressive values as "moderate" or "centrist", as a way to move what is commonly referred to as the center back to where it really should be.
If all of that has not convinced you, there is a second point that may. In the articles, you can take a word or phrase and link it back to your own blog or another Progressive blog such as Daily Kos. For example, I have a blog about Progressive strategy and now when Google crawls dKos it will link my website (http://progressivestrategist.com) with the phrase "Progressive strategy". The more often Google sees this linked (on various high ranking websites), the higher my website will be when people search "Progressive strategy" on Google. My goal is to have my site in first place. If I back link it on a regular basis (anchor text with a link to my site) on enough different sites, it will become first.
There are 566,000,000 results for "politics" on Google. This makes it extremely competitive to rank on the first page, let alone #1. But the reward for ranking first is 610,000 US monthly visitors and a total of 1,370,000 global monthly visitors.
Pick a less competitive phrase, such as "US politics", only 6,840,000 results with 8,100 people in the US searching that phrase per month (12,100 people globally). The ideal combination is less that 20,000 results (when searched in quotes) and at least 3,000 monthly searches on Google. In a field like politics and news, this will take some time. But with a large community, we can achieve anything. This is why creating your own blog is important, this is another place Google will see and can add to the total back-link count to a particular site such as dKos. You can easily look up how many searches per month Google has for a particular phrase. Just make sure to use quotes when searching. https:/adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
Want to write 3 articles and generate hundreds or even thousands of back-links? I use a neat online program that I write an article and paste it into the field. It then has me re-write each paragraph one at a time so I have 3 unique articles. I then create a few titles and what are called resource boxes (this is where I place my anchor text with a back link or two I am working on). It then places unique articles on hundreds of partner websites (sites looking for specific unique content). There is a monthly fee for this site but I find it valuable. This is called Unique Article Wizard.

Lets get to work and begin having Progressive content where people read it most and lets begin raising the search rank when people search the web using political, news and government keywords!
This will move the debate back to Progressives and inform low information voters who decide elections.
Another great SEO (search engine optimization) strategy is to back-link positive Progressive articles and negative Conservative/Republican articles from news websites. An example would be back-linking "tea party candidates" (18,100 searches/mo and 367,000 Google results) with a scientific article on how Conservatism is a mental illness. CNN had an article on this a while back but I was unable to find the link. You can also link "tea party candidates" to negative news articles on Larry Craig or Mark Foley. Linking these negative articles to Republican elected officials names' is another strategy. You can also link positive jobs numbers, economic data and personal stories of how Progressive elected officials have affected peoples' lives.
