Today, when former Vice President Dick Cheney wasn't implying that torture is what allowed the United States to finally take out Osama bin Laden, he was busy trying to share the credit for the raid:
“The administration clearly deserves credit for the success of the operation,” Cheney told ABC News, adding that getting Bin Laden’s has long been "the ultimate goal, the ultimate objective" of the US counterterrorism program.
Bullshit. As George W. Bush said, ahead of the U.S. dropping the OBL ball in favor of ginning up support for a war in Iraq:
Who knows if he's hiding in some cave or not. We haven't heard from him in a long time. The idea of focusing on one person really indicates to me people don't understand the scope of the mission. Terror is bigger than one person. He's just a person who's been marginalized.... I don't know where he is. I really just don't spend that much time on him, to be honest with you.
In fact, it appears that the "the ultimate goal, the ultimate objective" of getting bin Laden began on January 20, 2009, culminating last night in the White House Situation Room, when President Obama and his national security team watched as the ultimate goal was achieved.
