Right when you think a Republican administration would be embarrassed having been caught going against what they preach to their "base" about, they defend it instead.
The governor’s office insists McDonnell is "vigilant about reducing the cost of government,"
They hold their hypocrisy up as an award and try to make you into the dumb one for even questioning it. Gov. McDonnell is just the latest in a long line of Republican hypocrites who preach "fiscal responsibility" until it comes to them and how they spend your (taxpayers) money. Then all bets are off.
The worst problem is they aren't even bright enough to be embarrassed when they send an email back to a reporter and forget to delete the inner office stratagem being used to try and throw the reporter off of the trail.
When we asked the governor to talk to us about his use of state aircraft, his office said no. The governor's staff did agree to answer our questions in an email where someone forgot to delete a back-and-forth showing staffers saw our public review of the governor's travels as a "gotcha series." In spinning the answers, staffers were encouraged, "come up with good explanations," "let's put our heads together" and "edits are welcome."
I keep hearing people talk about their disappointment with the various Republicans that got elected into office and all I can think is "I hope these same people do not suffer from short term memory come 2012!"
