UPDATE: First off..I apologize if the title of this was misleading...any thoughts how to find someone that might be willing help us out?
Two months ago a few people started grumbling via email and texts about the state of politics in the upper mid-west (mainly MN, WI, MI) and as we became increasingly incensed over the actions of state's respective Republican party actions we decided to create a website to voice our opinions and allow others in our respective states to do that same.
A couple weeks later we went live with greatlakesprogressive.com--we launched way earlier than we should have to service and discuss the brewing unrest in WI--and we have had a nominal success.
We have graduated from days with no page views at all to at least few to a good number of views a day. We'd like to grow that number and serve as a site servicing not just individual states, but the upper-great lakes states a whole (as many issues span the tri-state area).
However, we lack the skill, talent, or eye for creating a nice polished branded look that is comfortable, yet gripping for our readers. Our webmaster is an architecture guy...not a visual arts person...so, while he can build great back end services, he is not overly skilled in the 'make it pretty' aspect of web-design.
So...I figured I'd put it to the Kos community to see if anyone would be interested in pitching in to help with our front end UI design--strictly voluntarily...none of us expect to make any money from the site--it is merely a place to add more voices to the progressive cause.
We do, however, some interesting ideas and directions we are planning to take the site. Eventually, we envision Great Lakes Progressive to be much more than a opinion site, or a community journalism site. However, I hesitate to tip my hat to the ideas we have in mind--ideas our back-end developer can handle, if we have a front-end that people are happy with.
So, if you're interested in helping out 4 guys from the upper mid-west build out a site to add to the cause while adding to your design portfolio, get a hold of me.
Plus, if the site takes off--there is always a bit of gamble there--you will have jumped when we were on the ground-floor and we are nothing if not loyal.
Thanks,
Chris
