ew York State Senator Dan Ball has asked for it. Yup, he's asked the Internet what it thinks about how he should vote on the marriage equality bill now front-and-center in New York State. Ball is one of the three to five Republican Senators who remain undecided on how they should vote on the bill should it in fact come up for a vote.
He's asked for responses on Twitter and Facebook. So why not oblige him?
To reply to him on Twitter (assuming you have a twitter account, I think you have to have one), just go to his Tweet asking for your opinion and click on 'Reply', type in 'Please vote YES' and then 'Enter'.
To reply to him on Facebook (assuming you have a Facebook account), go to his wall, and where it says 'Write something' type your message. First you have to 'like' him by clicking the 'Like' icon/text if you don't see the 'Write something' box.
How are the responses stacking up?
I did a quick scan of 25 Facebook responses (including mine), and 22 were in favor of marriage equality.
I wrote a little program to scan an hour's worth of tweets that were replying to @ball4ny and which included the text 'Yes' but not the text 'Yes or no' and of 493 tweets in response 337, or 68% had 'Yes'. (Of course this is a crude measure, but I wasn't about to human-process 497 text messages).
You can make that percentage grow!
Again Again, here is his Tweet you can respond to.
And here is his Facebook wall page.
