Well, at least one politician gets it: Mike Bloomberg is welcoming gays to his city with open arms.
And who wouldn't?
It's just good business. Gays have tons of disposable income, great jobs, no kids to drain the public coffers, and lots of free time.
Oh, and they usually aren't part of flash mobs that go rampaging through department stores stealing things en mass, as we've seen recently in some cities.
In other words: they're model citizens. And unlike those other model citizens, the Asians, Gays aren't afraid to spend some money and buy things - a real shot in the arm to any area they settle in.
Bloomberg understands that Gays are jackpot citizens, consumers, and taxpayers - the key word here being consumers. Every other mayor of every other city would be wise to understand it too.
It's simple: Gays are good business. Those colorful rainbow badges lead straight to greenbacks.
