I am tired as hell of Republicans like John Boehner telling me what I do and do not want.
"The American people," he says, "will not tolerate any increase in taxes."
I say bullSHIT!!
I DO want taxes raised--raised on those whose salaries have soared 240% over the last few decades while I'm stuck earning the SAME WAGE my father was earning in 1979.
I want taxes raised on those who can AFFORD to part with a few million dollars while I can barely afford to feed, clothe, house and educate my daughter.
I want taxes raised on those smug bastards who happily took government bailout money but see no reason to return the favor.
What's it going to take to tell the Beltway crowd LOUDLY and CLEARLY that we DO want taxes raised? That we demand the super-rich, who owe their very fortunes to the American capitalist system, make some real contribution to their country?
What if thousands of us showed up in D.C. and told the Republicans to stick their corporate-jet-loving, billionaire-coddling rhetoric directly up their arrogant asses?
Maybe THEN they would finally hear what the American people--the average, everyday, struggling-to-survive American people--REALLY stand for.
I am willing to take my last two vacation days a week from today. I am willing to drive 12 hours to D.C. and let my voice be heard. It would cost me dearly. But it seems worth it to me.
