I'm watching the tweet tickers at Blue Cheddar Blog right now, and it appears that the Real Dems are kicking butt in Wisconsin. This is good news for all of us who have worked so hard, gathering signatures in the howling winds of Lake Michigan March, rallying at the Capitol, fretting over whether to strike or go the recall route. Well, this evening marks the end of the primaries. The Republicans have thrown everything they have at us: voter suppression bills that add layers of complication, fake robocalls misinforming the populace, fake candidates running as democrats. Yet we were still out on the street corners throughout the state, holding signs, canvassing, talking, and getting out the vote.
Our PAC, The Playground Legends, was out in force today in Northwest Milwaukee, having fun with microphones while making this election visible. Get in to vote! Votey vote vote! Vote for Sandy Pasch, not the Republican teabag of trickery, the fakes and frauds of cruel and cynical people. We have been building relationships in these neighborhoods, and have been having fun while doing it. Get out to meet people, folks! We're gonna win this one vote at a time! Peewee activists helped us all day, and mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles went over to the YMCA and cast their votes!
Tweets from throughout the state tell me similar stories. "Nancy Nusbaum is the Dem Nominee in the 2nd! Woo hoo!" (Sorry, Otto, you suck! We distrust palindromes!) It'll be Nusbaum v Cowles in recall. See you August 9!
47% in for District 8, and Sandy Pasch has 65-35%. (Oh, Gladys Huber, you poor, poor prideless dupe. At least you have a crappy beer that shares your surname!) Pasch v Darling on August 9!
Fred Clark declared winner in 14th. Another one for the real ones, another for the good guys. Clark v Olsen!
Jessica King declared winner!
And the list goes on. We've won this round. The Republican trickery backfired because we are more organized than ever. We know how to do this. We are learning. We are building relationships. We are getting citizens active. We are inspired by each other and inspiring each other. And we are winning!
