Hello Kossacks. This Music Monday I am going to post a series of Reggae songs. I love Reggae as well as old school ska where Reggae came from though that will be another diary. So let's get started; here's a Bob Marley song that is one of my favorites and quite timely:
Legend is actually Bob Marley's worst album, but it's the most popular. Everyone loves Bob Marley for good reason. It's a shame he died so young from cancer via acral lentiginous melanoma that came visible from playing soccer and injuring his foot. Legend is a good album don't get me wrong, but there is so much better stuff. Also the other forgotten front man is just as talented and arguably even more talented and he never quite got the recognition he deserved. Peter Tosh and Bob Marley were the major front-men for the Wailers and they had a rivalry. Peter Tosh didn't say flattering things(though they weren't too bad he just said it will pave the way for others which can be counted as insensitive) about Bob when he died, but given how Bob was given most of the credit it's somewhat understandable and when egos clash it's damaging for band dynamics.
I love Peter Tosh. It's a tragedy how he died as he was murdered for opening up his home to an ex con who murdered and robbed him.
Here he is with Mick Jagger and even that didn't lead to mainstream success like Bob Marley had.
There's also Jimmy Cliff and the famous song from the famous Independent film everyone should see at least once.
And today great bands like Steel Pulse continue their tradition.
Thanks for visiting and listening.
