For those of you not in the know, the past couple of weeks have been long ones. My Mother-in-law's mental health had a bad set back, leading to mania and paranoia for which she was hospitalized. Her idiot doctor took her off her medication about 9 months ago, as it was doing kidney damage; but he did not bother to put her on a different medication. It was only a matter of time before she lost contact with reality. A good psychiatrist placed her on a different medication and will be doing follow-up for her in the future. She is making a come-back to her old self, and I am so very grateful. We had a scare, though, that made us fear for her stability.
Mother-in-law came into the hospital with a colonization of MRSA germs within her nostrils. The doctor who took her off her medication did not indicate on her paperwork that she had a colonization-he simply wrote MRSA on her discharge papers. Consequently, the assisted living place she was in refused to take her back--rightfully so! We were told that if the doctor had indicated colonization, then they would be able to have her back; but they could not have her there if she had a full infection. After a flurry of phone calls, and her idiot doctor telling us, "Yes, it is a colonization, but I won't change the discharge papers." My husband and I made the hour and a half long trip out to the hospital to catch him and, short of doing bodily damage, make him fix the paperwork.
We got to the hospital in the nick of time! The doctor was leaving the floor, and my husband ran down the floor to get him before he left. We talked to him, and he decided that he could document the colonization on her medical prescriptions. Thank *God for cell phones-he waited while we called assisted living for him to tell them they would receive the appropriate paperwork.
Mother-in-law is safely back at her home. The staff at her assisted living place love her dearly, and she is happy.
So, Hubby and I stopped at our local watering hole to celebrate the fact that she is on her way toward healing.
This is an open thread. Come on in and tell us about your day, your good and bad. I am waiting to feel the same relief about what is happening with the idiot Tea Party people in DC, but I fear the news may not be good. I can only hope we can catch the idiots in time, perhaps as they are walking out the door, to convince them that they need to reconsider--The USA cannot tolerate their stupidity much longer.
