#1. His wealth. In today's America, it's very unusual (e.g., "weird") to have such staggering wealth at your disposal. His wealth separates him from most Americans, in that Mittens has never had to wonder where his next meal is coming from, or whether he can afford to fix his flat tire this week, or if the next prescription will have to come at the expense of being able to eat meat this week.
#2. His experience. In today's America, most people have worked for a living for a very long time, and appreciate and understand the notion of hard work. Mittens has been a CEO most of his working life. He's in the upper 1%, which is weird.
#3. His robotic demeanor. Mitt doesn't have to make himself presentable or respectable or tolerable on a daily basis because he's so wealthy and powerful. It's weird, because most people have to at least try to fit into the human species. Mitt can just ignore concerns that would devestate the rest of us. That's weird.
#4. His beliefs. Yes, Mormonism is a weird religion. One of its core practices (no longer officially adhered to) is polygamy, which has been shunned and decried by Western culture for centuries. So how did a religion founded in the West in the 19th century suddenly pick up this weird practice again?
#4b. Before someone starts crying about religious discrimination -- it's the right who brings these things up and if they don't want religious examinations of their candidates, they can start shutting their pieholes. It is a gun that points both ways, people. Use it. If Barack Obama's reverend is a valid topic of endless media speculation and distraction, so is Joseph Smith's zany fairytale about golden plates.
Finally, #5: His inconstant positions. Romney created the template for Obama's healthcare plan. Now he pretends it's both a good and bad idea. So which is it, Weirdo? Make your weird mind up. And that's just the tip of a very weird iceberg of massive contradictions and doublethink.
10:35 AM PT: Just to clarify regarding my criticism of Romney's weird religion, I will relate two facts of note: #1 I am an atheist, and #2 I was born in UTAH to the son of a Jack Mormon. Y'all can go look up what that means. At any rate, yes I know they're weird because I grew up with that stuff all around me.
