John Boehner yesterday:
Let’s be honest with ourselves. The president’s proposals are a poor substitute for the pro-growth policies that are needed to remove barriers to job creation in America ... the policies that are needed to put America back to work.
If we want job growth, we need to recognize who really creates jobs in America. It’s the private sector.
And now for some facts:
So during the Bush presidency, the private sector
lost jobs while the public sector
gained jobs. And since the end of the recession (as
determined by the National Bureau of Economic Research), the private sector has
gained jobs while the public sector
lost jobs.
So if John Boehner really meant what he said, he must be pretty damn satisfied with the jobs situation in America, right? It's either that, or he hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.
