Towleroad is reporting on a series of tweets by L-Word actress Leisha Hailey last night, in which she tweets about the incident. Hailey says in one tweet:
I have been discriminated against by Southwest Air. Flt. attendant said that it was a "family" airline and kissing was not ok.
Another tweet:
We were escorted off the plane for getting upset about the issue. @Southwest air endorses homophobic employees. No one made here accountable.
And here are two questions I'd like SWA to answer as well:
Since when is showing affection towards someone you love illegal? I want to know what Southwest Airlines considers as "family".
For what's it's worth, Southwest isn't denying it, though they claim the pair were engaged in 'excessive behavior' whatever that means. You can read their comment about it on their blog.
Personally, I'd like to hear more from SWA about this. Do they consider a simple same-sex kiss as inappropriate behavior on their planes or was there something more going on in this particular incident? My suspicion is that it was more of the first, though I hope that's not the case.
Frankly, I fly SWA more often than any other airline, but that wouldn't be that hard for me to change.
