Sheeeeesh!
Folks, I beg you.
Tone it down.
Sarah Palin is not a monster.
Using the phrase "blood libel" was the wrong thing to say, but I think it's very unlikely that she intended to misappropriate or belittle the suffering of Jewish people at the hands of anti-Semites.
Her latest video is not a call to bloodshed to her supporters.
Sarah Palin is often wrong.
She seems to be suffering from an acute form of perspective distortion, where she has come to believe that everything that crosses her mind is worthy of national media attention -- well, because the media hangs on her every word.
I think she has said a few pretty bad things that probably had bad consequences when it comes to the tone of our national dialog.
She's a lady with different ideas about how the country should be run, and different -- sometimes ill-advised -- ways of communicating them.
Yes:
She can be hyperbolic.
Yes:
She has used metaphors that she shouldn't have used. (Jesus, I think I've been much worse!)
But she's not the Demon Queen.
She's not the general of undead zombie armies that are coming to eat your brains.
