This diary is just to lighten up what is a gray, snowy day. There is a new comic book out there - Steampunk Palin. The Comic Alliance review says "More Insane Than You Can Imagine".
A look at the table of contents shows 15 pages of "story", and 8 pages of pin-ups.
For those that haven't yet encountered the genre Steampunk it is alternative history science fiction, imagining a time where we never left the Victorian steam and airship era (Jules Verne is a big inspiration) Its also become a fashion genre with people dressing in Victorian and Edwardian foppery - one wag described it as "When Goth kids discover brown".
Back to the book: The story line has us in a post-oil world, with our heroine, having been blown up by big oil/nuclear interests for her proposal to use steam power, wakes up as a steam operated cyborg. (As is typical with the who cares about reality intended audience, they give no clue as to how the steam gets generated.) Obama is present, he also has been subjected to a steam cyborg makeover.
I have no intention of actually reading the thing, I am just pointing it out so we all can giggle and/or groan at it. The review includes a shot of the cover art, and some examples of the interior art.
