As a teacher in Miami's public schools I have seen the slow destruction of humanity up close and in person. Each year a new crop of eager young minds gets less and less able to think for themselves. Successive generations become more like sheep and less like people. It makes me angry, and it makes me work that much harder. It does not make me want to quit, there is too much at stake.
I stay hungry for the future.
With a world full of rampant greed-fueled anti-culture television-based mind pollution permeating all aspects of their existence, too many of today's children tend to be easily controlled consumers who value current shallow trends over quality and tradition. If we were really hungry to maintain and uplift the cutural intelligence of humanity, we could exploit this for community progress instead of corporate profit.
Can you imagine what we could become if the incessant sales pitch coming from the TV was telling people to be themselves and be creative? It would change the world.
This is not your grandfather's movement. We now have the power to create personal and social media based in caring humanity rather than commercial hoarding. Technology allows us to broadcast our own channels. This time the revolution is micro-televised. The Occupy storm surge cannot be contained. The people who are still awake amidst the sheeptrance of corporate commercials get their news from uncontrollable sources, and my stomach is growling to see how this all shakes out. We are mixing up a big bowl of future stew, and it smells delicious.
Stay hungry for the future.
