So, I'm a little late to the party. I've been browsing this site for years, but I'll admit, I don't do much to help. I'm still young, and I've been really busy with college as a film majo. I'd like to change this as I grow up - so whenever I can, I've been making school projects that focus on my interests, including the economy. I've made a documentary about the financial crisis that got a few good and relatively high profile interviews, which I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with, but more recently, I made a short project about Occupy Wall Street. The task was simple: go to a location and capture the mood in B-Roll clips. And while I was there, I filmed this:
I'm sorry if this is old news, I filmed this a weekend or two ago, but I still wanted to call attention to this guy. See, this is the type of person we need more of from this movement in the media. He's coherent, well-spoken, and best of all, he has first hand experience with this economy from the other side of the story - and he STILL sides with the 99%. Too often, with protests like this, people look and see people who seem crazy from the outside, and they don't take the time to listen to what the person's really talking about. As someone from a nerd culture, I can understand how frustrating this is: and this is my first little contribution to this cause, even if it doesn't do a damn thing in the end.
For anyone interested, this is how the video I made turned out: I'm unfortunately more happy with the shots of Wall Street versus the actual protestors, but I'm pleased at how suspiciously easy it was to make Wall Street seem like a bad place on video.
