There have already been
1,945 arrests associated with Occupy Wall Street, several hundred of which have occurred in New York City. Now, Mayor Michael Bloomberg seems to be promising
many more:
New York mayor Michael Bloomberg announced today that the city is going to take a hard line with demonstrators making camp in Lower Manhattan after going easy on the throngs for weeks.
"We will start enforcing that more," he said of the rules requiring permits for marches and assemblies.
The mayor's comments came during his weekly radio appearance on WOR-AM.
With Occupy Wall Street set to hold an action against "stop and frisk" policies outside a Harlem police station later today, in addition to a march with over 1,000 Verizon workers, this promise of increased enforcement from Bloomberg will be put to an early test.
