Well it seems that we won’t be getting that income equality speech from Majority Leader Eric Cantor today after all. Shortly before it was to begin he cancelled.
Why did he cancel? Was it because he realized that he was not going to be able to give a Republican spin on this with a straight face? Was it because he suddenly developed a better than fifth grade understanding of economics and history and realized he was on the wrong side of both?
No. Reports are that when Cantor realized that the University of Pennsylvania was going to make this speech of major interest to the nation open to the public he turned tail and ran!
Think Progress via CNN twitters is reporting that is was after Cantor was informed of the open nature of the audience that he cancelled. He had signed up for “selected audience” and that was no longer the case.
I’d like to take this opportunity to point out that this is really the Republican M.O. and has been for a long time. They constantly claim that they are doing the will of the people, that the American people are behind their dumdassed plans, yet they are totally unwilling to face the same American people.
As for Rep. Cantor, he seems to be showing that is rather Avis Domestica. Brawk!
You know there is such a thing as leadership and Mr. Cantor has shows that while he might have the title of Majority Leader he is anything but a leader. He is far more of a school yard bully who can dish it but can’t take it.
