Tom Brokaw was on tv this morning, complaining that the "Greatest Generation" had to sacrifice to reduce their Social Security benefits to give more to the rest of society (rich people, is what he meant).
He was moaning about an ad from AARP, which suggested that cutting Social Security was not fair and reasonable.
This absurd Brokaw nonsense was obviously in support of the "Stupid Committee", which NBC praises as the arbiter of good taste - reducing Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security benefits, so rich people never have to see their taxes rise to the Reagan era levles.
You get used to Meet the Press and Mourning Joe pushing this junk economics, but Brokaw is especially arrogant.
His net worth is reported to be $70 MILLION!
The people on Social Security AVERAGE $13,000 - just about poverty level, but not enough to get free Medicaid healthcare. They only qualify for Medicare, which costs $100 a month per person and then only covers 80% of doctor costs and requires more than $1,000 each time you enter the hospital. You can get supplemetal policies for another $200+ per person, which isn't much a bargain for couples who have paid into Medicare for 40 or 50 years.
The $13,000 represents about ONE DAY of investment income (5%) that Brokaw earns. He makes as much in one day as the average SS beneficiary makes in a year.
Such arrogance!
Brokaw was bought by the establishment a long time ago, just like the NBC, owned by GE and Comcast.
The sad part is that uninformed Americans watch Meet the Press and think it is objective. Poor fools - they know not what they do.
