Earlier this week, DemFromCT had a diary on the flu and vaccines. One line hit home about how one knows he/she has the flu and not a bad cold: (paraphrased) "You know you have the flu if you have a $100 bill taped to your front door and you can't get out of bed to retrieve it." That's how I've felt for over two weeks. I thought I had caught a cold from a walking petri dish -- three year old with a snotty nose who, for some odd reason, likes me. Ok, I look for worms with him, make stone soup in a hollowed out stump, fish with him, and provide crayons and paper for scribblings (aka refrigerator art).
I can't hop on MetroNorth and make it into NYC -- in fact, I can't hop at all. Knowing today through the weekend is important across this nation for the 99%ers (unlike Romney, I am one) I thought a bit of music -- all of which is a blast from my past but the messages remain the same.
Nothing more current than Patti Smith's "People Have the Power." I like this video because of the morphing faces:
Then there's Buffalo Springfield's "Stop Children, What's That Sound" h/t to Bindle in Chris Bower's diary for simply stating: "There's something happening here."
And if one doesn't include Dylan -- one is a moran. Bob Dylan's "Times They Are A' Changin"
The velvet voice of Marvin Gaye and his "What's Goin On?"
My favorite of all time -- and still going strong -- Pete Seeger's "Which Side Are You On?"
Ok -- Pete deserves more room -- Pete Seeger's "This Land Is Your Land" with Arlo Guthrie
The always brilliant Bob Marley and his "Get Up, Stand Up"
Something contemporary and, what I consider an anthem of sorts for Wisconsin -- but it works for this nationwide uprising. The Drop Kick Murphys' "Take 'Em Down." Yeppers, time to take the bastards down.
